newbie help. 89 club car

Hi! new to the forum... new to golf carts. So I have an 89 club car. I drive my son all over the yard and stuff in it, he loves it. At the end while parking I thought I smelled a burning smell.. Looked under didn't see anything out of place or on fire so I didn't think anything of it. went to ride this weekend and it doesn't move. from my research, mostly of here, I've come to a conclusion that I need help confirming. Solenoid.

I've seen some things that match my description of what's happening, but I haven't seen anything concrete on exactly how I need to test it. what do I disconnect, etc.

put in reverse, buzzer works.
in forward or reverse it clicks but no movement.
checked all wires, nothing loose. batteries are relatively new. a year or 2 old I think. everything LOOKS good under the hood

it was running fine, nothing out of the ordinary. any help would be much appreciated!

crash test dummy

first is it a 36v ?
if you are hearing the "click" thats the Solenoid engaging
to check .. jack up rear and get wheels off ground
turn on key, press gas pedal and confirm the click is from Solenoid,if no click then test Solenoid , use a DVM and check to see if you get 36v across the big terminals on the Solenoid

I believe it's a 36v. 6- 6v batteries. It sounds like it is coming from the solenoid.

good... then feel side as you press gas , or put meter across large lugs
if you feel click then measure your entire pack voltage #1 battery positive post to #6 negative post

Ok. #1 to 6 read 38.8v

ok cables are good and batteries fully charged

There is a solenoid front/center. Vglide throttle... resistors in rear I believe

ok... here is your diagram .. very little to check
first ... do a smell test , you said you smelled burn before, see if you can find it
go over the resistor coils , look for break or burnt spot
look at v-glide make sure it is making good contact and wires are good
recheck wires ... all wires

Resistors are in tact. No breaks or anything that stands out for being 25yrs old. I cant smell anything now. Maybe if i could get my head closer to the solenoid. I'll try to post picture if it. It looks possibly burnt? Looks strange
