Bigger tires go faster??
Hi. 2010 CC precedent 6-8v
I was told today by a local used golf cart dealer that if I changed my 8" tires to a larger size my cart would gain 3/4 mph. The next size is 10" then 12" but which one would be better and being that it is not lifted would either fit and which would be faster. Need more speed going up hills. Thanks Alan |

Re: Bigger tires go faster??
What you gain in speed you lose in torque. So you would be going even slower going up hill.

You really need to make the drive to Augusta and quit dealing with those cart guys on that side of the state.

Re: Bigger tires go faster??
I have 12s on my 04 Precedent. If I make a sharp turn they will rub, but other than that they are great. I haven't tried sanding down the plastic under the wheel well to see if I can get it ground down enough so they wont rub, doesn't really bother me since I don't make sharp turn all that often.

Re: Bigger tires go faster??
10 12 14s Arrrrgh !! These are NOT tire sizes - these are rim sizes....... Why WHY are people now so obsesssed by rims that they think 10 inch rim gives the tire size!? You can get tires from 20 to 25 inches tall for a 10 inch rim - this trend drives me nuts
What matters is the tire size (height) and not the rim size. So everybody, next time someone asks you how tall your tires are don't tell them what size the rims are. |

But then goes on to ask "The next size is 10" then 12" but which one would be better and being that it is not lifted would either fit and which would be faster."? To me he is asking for RIM size here, so I told him what size rims I have. Knowing that is cart is not lifted, I would think he knows that if he goes with a larger rim, he might have to go low profile tire. |
