Default Something this useful got to have a downside...

On a whim I bought a tray for under the seat. My wife want storage and she doesn't like the little cubby hole open glove box. Besides I mounted the fire extinguisher in the glove box.

So something this useful has to have a down side.

Please advise.

The only downside I see is it won't hold my 12pack on ice.

That is what the fold down back seat and the strapped Yeti cooler is for. Photo incoming next time I put it on.

Only a couple downsides that I can see, and neither one's really a big deal.

1) When charging, a lot of guys leave the seat up so that the hydrogen can vent properly. Do I do it? Usually only when I'm working on a cart and the seat's off anyway.

2) You're gonna have to move the tray every time you want to check on the batteries or add water - the tray (for some folks) would make it less likely that they'd keep an eye on the batteries since you can't see them now when you lift the seat.

Like I said, not big stuff, just the fact that you'll have to move it for maintenance.

One of the pros other than storage is it acts as a shield between the seat and the batteries. One of my buddies had one until one of his batteries exploded. Melted the tray but saved the seat.

Typically battery maintenance is forgotten once these trays are installed.....

I can see that happening, but Scotty won't happen here. I have weekly and monthly maintenance on my calendar. I also don't have the tray in unless we are going some where. I have a cleared shelf not 3 feet from cart just for tray. Just pop it in and we are off. Tools, flashlight, duct tape, bungies, sunglasses etc...

Lol. For the average consumer I would think yes, the batteries might be out of sight out of mind. I still checked the batteries once a month though with the tray.

maybe you could cut the bottom out of the tray and replace it with a piece of clear Lexan. that way you could at least remember there's battery's down there.
