Default 1995 DS V-Glide

OK I have a 1995 DS that has several issues.....
Motor runs wide open in fwd no matter where the pedal is?
Motor will not run in reverse any time, the sol. does click but no rev?

I started at the V-glide and found one I don't recall seeing, it is not the pie shaped v-glide and not a mcor. I checked my nivel parts catalog but didn't see anything that looks like what I have.

This is a friends cart that was converted from 36 to 48 volt. He had the OBC replaced and said the fwd and rev were wide open ever since but now with now rev he wants to fix it.

Is it under the floor on the drive's side down by the pedals? If so, you've got the fabled "pot box" that was SO bad CC went back to the V-glide after a bit of using it, then eventually on to the MCOR.

There is a kit out there to convert it to MCOR.

Yes I just found the "pot box" in my carry-all book. Don't know why it wasn't in my ds book, I guess b/c they didn't us it long... Is there any test for this part the conversion kit isn't cheap. I would like to confirm it is bad, also would this have anything to do with the no reverse?

That one's above my pay grade. I'm more at home with resistor carts than these oddball early 48 volt carts.

OKAY WARNING! This pot may be 0-5k and the MCOR is 5k-0. Check your output before venturing any further.

s there a way to test the pot box? I seem to remember being able to take some ohm readings on another cart I replaced the mcor on but cant find my notes.....

Also how would I determine 5-0 or 0-5

Set your meter to ohms if you have selectable range - select 0-20,000 Ω

remove the throttle signal wires from the speed control at pin # 2 and 3. plug your meter leads into the wire spade connectors and depress the gas. Do it several times until you can determine if the reading is starting high (5000) and going low (150-0) or the reverse = 0-5000(0-5k)

post your results

On terminal 2 and 3 I have less than 500 at rest I had to go to my swing meter since the digital was just jumping all over the place. With the pedal pressed I get just a little movement trying to read higher. You really have to watch the needle to see it move. With that being said I would assume it is 0-5 and bad pot box for sure

Go it covered. Replaced all cables with 2 ga. cables ( this had nothing to do with my issues just needed to be done) Replaced fwd-rev switch and upgraded to mcor4. Everything working great. Thanks for the help.

Glad you got it working! Those pot-boxes were screwy, hence why CC ditched the use of them.
