Default Club Car Potentimeter Question

Hello -

I have a 1995 48 volt Club Car. Yesterday we replaced the solenoid in hopes that it would work . The cart is fully charged , We did run tests across the solenoid and it was bad. however we are still experiencing when we put the accelorator down I think the POTENTIOMETER is dirty or needs to be replaced (Hoping there is a way to clean it and save money. ) Can this piece be cleaned with tuner or electronics cleaner? Has anyone tried this ? I see that there is places where it can be opened for service is this what is for. Trying to save money where I can

Thanks,
Rich

If it's the potentiometer under the floor and not a vglide do the MCOR conversion and all of your worries will fade away.....

Cool Re: Club Car Potentimeter Question

Thank you for your help.

Here is what I am facing right now with this. When you hit the accelerator on the cart it will not move go but if you you do it again maybe 30 seconds later the cart will move.

The cart is charged and the batteries have clean connections and the key is in the on position. Am I barking up the wrong tree with this? Is there more I should check?

Thanks for your assistance,
Rich

Does the solenoid click every time you press the pedal?
Do you have the potentiometer under the go pedal?

The solenoid does click and the pedal is attached to a spring then in to the leever which connects into a black triangle box.

Is there any way to test the potentiometer with just a volt or ohm meter or can it be only tested with the special meter from club car?

Test the pot output with a simple ohm Ω meter

If it's going to a triangle box, sounds like you have a V glide instead of a potentiometer. That cover comes off and there's a microswitch inside. Might be loose, dirty, or bad. Just a thought??

Triangle box in the battery compartment? Sounds like a vglide. Check all of the contacts
