97 cc DS speed?

Hello, I'm looking to get more speed out of my CC.what is the least expensive thing, that can get me more speed. Eventually I will end up replacing everything, but just looking for a little more speed until I save more money to purchase all the other goodies. Cart is 48v with new batteries, 14'' wheels w/low profile tires and no lift kit. Thanks

Out of a series cart, larger diameter tires are the cheapest way to pick up a couple MPH, I'd say the next cheapest would be sending the motor off to PQ for them to work their magic.

Get a PQ Bandit. If you are at 15 mph it will get you ~22 mph. after that it is $$$$.

I have a thread on my speed conquest. BTW - I am at +33 mph and I have now installed a speed reducer.

LOL I think in most cases anywhere between 20 & 25 MPH is about as fast as you want to go in these carts, safely. Now if you modify it, chop the top and mod the suspension then you can make it go as fast as a car LOL, all in the money.

Thanks for the fast response guys. Could I run just an upgraded motor for a little while with out damaging or upgrading any other components, like for switch etc? What about the controller?

I'm sure you can, I've read lots of accounts where folks just put a PQ bandit in and are fine.

When the big $ come in are when you decide you need a big controller. That's when you get into a HD F/R switch, a HD solenoid, and upgraded cables, along with the controller.

I ran mine like that. No worries all stock with PQ motor. Then I went to 2ga battery cables, and so on .......

Im agreeing with the pro's. Bandit upgrade is most likely the easiest way to gain speed for the money. However, if the cart has a 48 volt motor in it, you can probably find an old 36 volt motor and trade them out which will give you more speed. That way when you get bored with the new speed improvement you can do bandit upgrade on that motor .

No, a 36 volt motor will get you around 17-19 mph on 48 volts. Mathematically, it's a 33% gain in both speed and torque over whatever speed you're running now, so take your current top speed and add 33% for a bit more accurate estimate of what your top end will be. What I think Sumner was saying was to try a 36 volt motor and then have that 36 volt motor upgraded to a PQ Bandit. That will work, but in the end the most cost-effective thing you could do is have the PQ upgrade done to your current motor.
