Default ?Best way to repair corroed battery supports?

I pulled my old batteries today to replace them
the support angles (all aluminum) are badly corroded, as would be expected for aluminum! Why would they do that without some sort of box or tray????

Anyway, what are some good ways to fix it, short of cutting out and re-welding? I don't have a welder, and would like to avoid taking the cart someplace.

Someone has previously laid in some 1 inch aluminum angle pieces to bridge above the factory angles. I think the acid has just gotten between the two angles and cuased crevice corrosion..... regardless, with this bridging, I think it's structurally sound enough as is, just doesn't seem to help future corrosion.....

I was thinking about maybe doing the same thing, but completely bedding the new angle in epoxee or caulk.

What have you done?

ah rivets..... didn't think of that. That'll work, thanks!
I was thinking of bedliner spray or something, but i wondered if it would be more of a problem if a crack or pinhole developed.

great, thanks for thge tip. Just picked up the supplies today.

Swan, I see in your sidebar pic, that you do a little "off roading". In my cart, the batterys sit between these aluminum angles, with their bottoms completely open. Did you put any sort of skid plate unde rthe batteries?
I don't figure on any hard core off roading, but I can certainly imagine the kids running of a stick or something taht oculd cause me grief. I was actually suprised that the cart was made this way, with no pan or skid plate to protect the batteries......
