Default Buying a new cart

Hello I might be buying a 2004 club car ds 48 volt with charger tomorrow. It is from a golf course and it was in storage as a backup for them what are some things to ask ? Also are these carts serviceable? Parts available? Any bits of info are appreciated
Thanks
Tony

1st look at the date stamp on batteries. 2nd make sure they show you the charger works. Yes the carts are serviceable and even upgradable. If you check the stickies particularly the what year is my club car sticky you can figure out the year by the serial number and then people on here can help with with a lot more information.

year is very important

2004 DS 48v has two types of drive systems
Powerdrive system and IQ system
a quick look at the F/R switch will tell you which it is
a rocker switch is I Q .... handle switch is Powerdrive

IQ has regan braking
Regenerative Braking.
a Shunt Wound System.

All this means is the system was designed for golf courses for the safety features it gives. The system will protect from unattended roll away on a hill. The system will electrically slow the car on a down hill run. To an extent the system during a plugging mode will return a portion of generated current back to the batteries. That is it in a nut shell.
Now what does this mean to you ? It means you would have an expensive system to maintain and repair.
It means you have a system that is hard to work with in terms of repair and upgrading.

I was actually looking at the same carts myself on eBay. They look nice, but they don't really say much about the batteries. I'd ask about that.
