Default Is this cart rare?

Just picked up a 97 club car ds (see pic for serial #) and see its a regen cart. It has the rocker f/r switch and speed sensor on the motor. No run/tow switch though.
Anything good or bad about these early regen carts? Thanks for the input, as always.

The dreaded Regen1 system. Drive system is terrible. The rest of the car is great.

TD, I was afraid you'd say that.

CTD, thanks. That schematic will come in handy.

Forgot to tell that this came with a charger that has a dial for the length of charge. Never seen that before.

You sure it's a 48 volt charger? Never seen a CC, or any, 48 volt charger like that. Seen a lot of older 36 volt ones that way though...

Rich sent me pics of the cart. It is a CC PowerDrive 1 charger that someone put a dial on. Timer prob. went out.

It has the 48v round plug. I may have to look at it closer. I'll post a pic tomorrow. I was just hoping to throw in a set of new batteries and drive it out into the sunset. I hope theres nothing else wrong with it.

That makes sense - timed chargers are a PITA to use, like JohnnieB has said, hard to get just the right charge unless you're a scientist. I'd hunt for a used good PD charger, or just bite the bullet and go DPI.
