2001 DS battery light
Had a 2001 DS get dropped off cause of the battery light. Batteries replaced 6 months ago. Pack voltage when showed up is 51.8 volts. Battery light is on steady now. Was flashing. What would cause it to come on since it's above 48 volts? Bad switch causing to come on? Any help is appreciated

Re: 2001 DS battery light
if you have reset the obc (in the stickies) and it still acts this way then bad obc is likely. If the charger works and shuts off keep cartin'. If it doesn't manage it with outlet timer to shut off charger, watch the clock to turn it off or spend the ~300 and get the dpi charger and throw out the obc.

Re: 2001 DS battery light
I tried the obc reset. Should have put that in earlir. I assume it's the obc but just want second opinion of course. Charger kicks on and shuts off as it should. Light just stays on and flashes with 51.8 volts. Guess it's reading wrong voltage.

Perhaps the OBC does not know you are charging the batteries....
Does the cart have one and only one pack negative cable that goes thru the OBC? |

Re: 2001 DS battery light
I have a 2001 ds and that darn battery light would flicker, stay, shut off and I couldn't figure it out. I put a cable thru it (during upgrades i went around it), did the bolt method and it still acted up. So i dealt with it for a year and finally got the dpi a month ago. I haven't pulled the obc out yet but will. At least I know the batteries are right. I also put in a digital volt meter display. So many of us on here have the obc issue.

Re: 2001 DS battery light
Does the charger shut off on its own? If so the obc is doing its job. Unplug the light, it's pretty useless

Re: 2001 DS battery light
Reminds me of the shadetree mechanic fix for the check engine light - just take out the bulb!
In all seriousness, if the charger acts like it's supposed to and the cart runs, unplugging that light won't hurt. Sunoco's right - it's useless. |

Re: 2001 DS battery light
Sergio it has one main negative running through the obc. Also yes the charger shuts off on its own. Everything seems to work as it should. Battery light just stays on.
