can I go from 6 6volt batts to 3 12 volts easy
I have an old 79 club car and I have 1 bad battery. I've always heard you shouldn't just change 1 battery but all of them... the guy at auto zone mentioned why not go to three 12 volt, easier to find and less weight. any problems this would cause??? and what would happen if I went with 3 deep cycle marine batts??? thanks for any help, I'm kinda new to this stuff. my primary cart is gas.

You won't get much run time with standard/marine deep cycle batteries.

Stick with 6 -six volt batteries ( deep cycle golf cart ) better life span and bigger amp / hrs of storage

I'll second what Great White said.
A brunch of Club Cars came out with stock 4-12 volt batteries. If you check the old posts, the guys that have those carts convert to a 6-8 volt system at the first chance and isn't just to blow money. |

Re: can I go from 6 6volt batts to 3 12 volts easy
You CAN put a new battery into an old pack. But here is what will happen, the new battery will be drug down to the level of the old batteries in a matter of months. This is why we suggest a used battery be used if the pack is 2 yrs old but, sometimes an old battery can't be found and it's best just to sacrifice half the life of one new one ........ you make the call
PS Stay away from 3/12v = you will not like the reduced run time and if they are not specifically golf cart batteries you will kill them in short order. I hope this helps |

Sounds like something the guy at auto zone would say, they work at a auto parts store, and don't know sh!t about a car or a truck, and now it shows they don't know crap about a golf cart, , if there is any cart shops around you, you can get a used battery that will fit better in your old pack,, stay with the 6 - 6 volts you'll be glad you did
