Battery Indicator Meter - 36V DS Cart
I'm trying to help sister-in-law with her golf cart. In August 2011, she purchased a used cart (1991 Club Car DS) and installed six new Trojan T105's. By the fall of 2013, the batteries would no longer hold a charge. Cart was used minimally. Now I'm trying to revive this ancient beast.
I just installed six new Trojan T605's but do need to figure why the former batteries failed so soon, therefore... One area of concern is the battery indicator device. I have never seen one like this nor can I find any information about it. I have posted a photo of the gauge and ignition switch here. On the back it indicates Prime as the manufacturer. (Prime has not rsponded to my inquiry over this device.) I have 4 questions: 1.) Could this be draining the batteries over time? The gauge seems to stay lit for hours after either use or charging. (The cart is used infrequently.)2.) How is this supposed to be wired? There is one wire and two leads on the back. All three are connected to the batteries. I have posted a photo of the gauge, the ignition switch and how it is currently wired.3.) Would you recommend replacing the gauge, and if so, with what? All bars seem to always have some kind of a glow, meaning you can't tell the difference between levels, making its usefulness minimal.4.) Finally, what on earth is that graphic on the right side of the face? An aardvark? Has anyone seen this guage before? The other area of concern is the health of the AccuPower 13800 charger that I will be testing. Any and all replies are welcomed. Mike Last edited by powerjack; 07-11-2014 at 02:15 PM.. Disconnect it and remove it. Put it in the trash.

Re: Battery Indicator Meter - 36V DS Cart
To keep from putting a square peg in a round hole, this meter might fill-the-hole properly. I've never seen one in use so can't comment on quality - but I don't think its a cheapie.
