Any issues getting Big Controller with stock 36V motor?

Hey guys, if this thread is already out here I apologize, I searched and haven't seen this question asked.

Im dying to get a SS controller to replace my toaster oven parts! Since a controller just "allows" amps to the motor (and does not sent amps), does anyone see any issues with upgrading to the big daddy 48V 700A GE controller and using it with my stock 36V motor? I know I would need a short list of other things like HD F&R switch, upgraded cables, a couple extra batteries, blah blah (that stuff is all well documented) - but I am just unsure about the motor situation.

As you can tell from the avatar pic I got big tires & love slowly crawling over big objects, but rarely have more weight than just the two of us on the cart. Thanks for the input!

It will work just fine..I put a 500amp Altrax on my 36v motor. Not as big as you are going to use but you will be fine with it...

Scottyb (Carts Unlimited) has a Solid State Conversion kit which includes the controller.

The control you are considering has an adjustable output screw. You can turn the controller limit down some or just use good judgment. If you get in a stall situation let off the gas before something burns up. Remember slow going and especially slow climbs make excess heat which is the killer of all things electric. So be cool and give it a break now and then.

Thanks Scotty! Is the adjustable output screw the same out the output ramp?

Ramp up is how quick the control opens the full flow of amperage while output basically limits the full flow. So you have two adjustments here:
Out put maximum and ramp up rate (or acceleration )

the only problem I had was repeated problems with the S1 stud on the motor . melted a few eyelets off the cable and over time melted the threads off the stud. Went with a PQ Rattlesnake II and never had a problem again. One thing was I was only running 4 ga at the time and don't know if the first time was heat or a loose nut that caused the problem but after that it was a all down hill until I upgraded .
