2010 club car battery life

Hi
Looking for some ride time info
I have a gas yamaha runs all month on a tank.
My neighbor just got a 2010 electric club car presecdent
Dealer told him the battery's are brand new
48 v
Lifted with 23" tires
Cart is close to brand new
With 400lbs of rider weight how many miles should it get
It runs a max speed of 21 we had the gps on all night to keep track of speed and mileage. He got 23 miles before it started to lunge and headlights faded almost off when accelerating.
Is that normal?
We live in a large neighborhood
So going on a 5-8 mile ride at a time is pretty normal.
Now with the guys going
And then the girls going a few times a night I'm guessing we have done well I've 50 miles in a night on mine
So the question is
Was electric a bad choice for our situation
Or should he more miles per charge then 23
Please let me know what your mileage and mods to your cart

If the batteries are new they will improve after a few charge cycles. But you should never ever run them down that low. They were likely down way less than 50% state of charge. Electric cart will do just fine for what you are talking about but you need to hook up the charger when you are not riding it. The batteries need to be charged when the cart is not being used at all times. The old rumor to run batteries all the way down is Wrong. Golf cart batteries need to be charged any time the cart is not being used. If you are going for a visit with a friend for an hour, put the charger on the cart and hook it up while you visit. May not be as convenient as a gasser, but sure a lot quieter and less smell.
