Default the name of the slime on top of battery

About I month ago I discovered that that the grime and goop collected on top of the battery was conductive when measured with a voltmeter from the post to the case...under normal conditions from voltage from the post to the case should be zero, this other path will cause an improper charge to the battery as the battery will look at this like a short circuit...someone on the forum came up with a name for this condition and I cannot remember what it was called, something like battery creep or something like that...can someone give me the proper name that it was/is called....this slime as I call it can be cleaned up with a product like battery clean or just plain water and baking soda...keeping the slime cleaned off every so often will prolong the life of the batteries as to make sure that batteries get there fair share of the charge...anyhow I still would like to the name of the condition

Thanks for chiming in...I know that you are regular on this forum and and you have a lot of good things to say, but someone else who's name I cannot recall gave it a name...I have hard time remembering who it was...and you right it is battery acid which is the major component mixed with dust and dirt, which makes up the slime.
Thanks for your input

I'm not sure of the name you're looking for but the issue is conductance of voltage from the battery case to elsewhere using the acid and stuff as the conductor. Shouldn't be any current or you have other issues.
Clean it up and the voltage should dissipate.

This has been discussed a few times on this forum. A search for "battery acid" or "frame grounding" might yield some results.

HTH.

The 2nd most important thing is don't wipe your hands off on your jeans, or you will wind up with some undesired ventilation in them.

It has been about 4 wks since I was last on..in the interim I did replace 2 new battery's and the cart was back to full power and then the new batterys blew a third older battery and that happened in the middle of the golf course...to make a long story short I ended up replacing all the batterys....I had to learn the hard way once the batterys get past 2 yrs and they start going weak, they are gone, replace them....Now I am very annal when it comes to the batterys...1. make sure water level is not to high..2. clean the dirt and slime on a regular schedule...make sure all connections are tight...in hot climates make sure the batterys are ventilated during charging...
My thanks to all who chimmed in when I needed help
