To add: 36 volt DS carts were only ever made in series, controller carts in 93 and 94 (nearest I've been able to confirm with TahoeDawg) and in V-glide controlled resistor carts clear up until 02 I believe.

Question on a controller upgrade to a DS IQ:

Why is it reported that installing an Alltrax DCX will result in speeds up to 20 mph when the same controller (DCX) on an ezgo pds cart results in 24 mph?

SC: I don't know the answer to that one, I'm more of a series guy. Sounds like a good scottyb question.

You have to compare apples to apples, different manufacturer, motor rear end gears etc.

They are pretty much the same. Don't care what frame it has so manufacture is out. In fact the club car is lighter and yet it is still slower.

They both have same controller, same gears (12:1), same tires and same motor type (sepex). 4 mph difference is huge really.

It's a 25% difference in stock cart vs stock cart if both get a DCX controller upgrade.

It must be the motor winding as the only difference. That means, while the ezgo is faster the club car "should" have more torque.

Great thread !! I have been looking for a 2005 or new DS and they are hard to find. I think they are much more popular than 80s, 90s and early 2000s. A friend had a 2003 IQ stock except lift and speed code 5. It ran very well up to upper 20s mph. Always seemed like a great combo to me. Not sure if I find one I would lift it, probably just stuff as much tire in the wheel well as possible. My perspective is from the street side, off road lift and wide track make good sense.
