Solenoid
I have my solenoid mounted vertical, to where the positive leads are north and south from each other if that makes sense. I'm trying to give you guys a mental image of how it's mounted. The problem I'm having is, if I drive on bumpy terrain such as my yard the throttle cuts out, but on pavement it's fine. I have a new mcor 4. I wonder if the solenoid is cutting out because of how I have it mounted. Has anyone else had this problem.

Re: Solenoid
I have solenoids sitting in the vertical position and horizontal position (sideways). They both work fine. Not sure orientation is a big thing with solenoids.

Re: Solenoid
Not so much an issue - the release is spring driven so many prefer the contacts up.

Re: Solenoid
I'm just wonder why it's dropping out when I hit bumps. Could it be my controller? I don't know why it would be that, has anyone had this problem.

Re: Solenoid
Something is breaking the circuit under heavy bumps, loose connection. You said you just replaced the MCOR, check the connections. If the solenoid is the culprit that could mean a weak coil to keep it energized, complete failure eventually will happen. Being it is fairly new probably not the issue, you could temporarily swap it out with your original solenoid and run the bumpy gambit again and see if it drops out, shouldn't hurt anything other than the old solenoid at worse case.

Re: Solenoid
Not all solenoids can be mounted in any position, specially the ones with heavy contact assemblies, you better check the specs on the model you have.
For example, look at the 400amp solenoid sold by Altrax, it says "horizontal mounting": http://www.alltraxinc.com/files/sol400spec.pdf |

Re: Solenoid
wOw I asked the dawg and he said check the key switch for a loose wire. And what did I find a loose wire. A loose key switch wire will cause throttle dropping out just a FYI for others.
