Dropped a Trojan, is this damaged too much?
So I was swapping batteries last night and this Trojan dropped from about 2 feet into its corner. It's not leaking, but it is crumpled just on the corner. Is this useable or do I need a new one?

Just a thought. For the price of batteries it would be a shame to discard a new one if it still functions OK.
I would find some type sealer to coat the damaged area. Then wrap the lower part of the battery with a thick plastic sheeting, in case at some point it does start to leak. Just my opinion. |

If it don't leak, and the volts are up where they should be,. USE it till it die's

I've had one dealer tell me that unless it's leaking it's ok, but another said if the plastic was stressed and white then to replace it. So I have no idea who is right. It's a March 2013 batt with minimal use too, so I'd hate to toss a $175 battery for nothing. But is it unsafe?

If it's working it is usable but the case is stressed so I would opt to reinforce it. Ideally find a hard plastic corner cut from a plastic box or such thing and glue it over the damaged area with silicone or?

I'd use it like I stole it LOL, If you can reinforce it or put something plastic under it in case of a leak wouldn't hurt. Maybe even use the Cpvc glue and some plastic to protect the corner somehow. The big thing is just keep an eye on it.

Reinforce the corner really well. If you live where the temp changes a lot watch that battery, do a volt check on it alone. If you shook everything lose on the inside you should know in a day if the or two if it want take a charge. Than looks like a new one is in order. I have found that a few of the auto parts stores sell very good golf cart batteries, not as much as Trojan.

Yeah I'm leaning towards keeping it and reinforcing that corner. How do I check the volts?
