Drill and tap melted battery terminal?
I'm sure it's not recommended, but, my buddies stock 36V cart melted a battery post on a 2 month old battery obviously due to a bad connection.
If you were going to drill and tap the post, what size and thread would you use, and how deep do you drill? Thanks. |

Re: Drill and tap melted battery terminal?
I use an 11/64" Drill bit and drill one inch deep. Tap it with a 5/16 tap and put a bolt in it. 5/16" x 1"

Re: Drill and tap melted battery terminal?
Ok I know lead is really soft and taps easy but 11/64" (.1719") is way too small a hole for a 5/16"-18 tap which calls for a letter F bit (.257") to which a 1/4" bit is plenty close enough....
