Default My Club Car DS Trailer Project

image.jpgI purchased a Club Car DS that had no batteries or motor. It was a flood car from a hurricane from several years back. I swapped the car for some audio equipment and decided that I would trick it out and convert it into a trailer. It was a lot harder than I thought, but with the help of vendors and reading quite a bit on this forum, I was able to get ideas. Here are some pics of what the car started out as and the progress

This is what the trailer started to look like. I was able to remove the front suspension off cutting the front end out.

I had to convince myself that this would work before I decide to cut the cart up.

I tried showing the build process so you could see what all was involved during this project. I struggled for a long month but I was able to complete the trailer. After I cut the trailer, I had to plan how I was going to design the front of the trailer. Luckily , I was to see other trailer that were built and I wanted to be able to carry a cooler or if need to ad an additional item for a parade(beads, souvenirs) I would have some storage in front of the trailer. Once I determine the V shape front, I needed to figure out how I was going to mount the 80" roof. keep in mind that my goal was to make the trailer very similar to my Club Car. I was able to find candy cane front struts that very little mods needed to be done. This was the hardest thing to do since originally I did not want front struts on the roof. it was going to take some time to modify the rear struts with an angle, so I had to settle for front struts. However, I did make quick releases on the roof struts to remove if wanted.

Once I got the trailer where I felt comfortable, with what I thought would look good, I prepped the body and painted. This was not the blue body that you saw on the trailer. I borrowed this body from a neighbor that had just purchased it for his cart. I painted the body black and added our logo. While the body was drying and curing, I worked on the hitch and deicide to go with a 2" ball. Just in case I wanted to pull it with a vehicle (I don't think I am going to anytime soon). It was finally coming together and I need to wrap it up pretty quick. I also went with the same color combination as the front seats and theme. Black and green.

I wanted the trailer to look like the club car. I got as close as I could to make it look similar. I am not done yet, but hopefully I can have it all done within the week. I installed a kinetic high current battery for the 6 channel ARC Audio amplifier, I also installed a pair of 8" Wetsounds speakers, a pair of 6 1/2" Wetsounds speakers and a pair of Wetsounds Rev 8" Tower speakers. I added led lighting to all the speakers and underneath the trailer to match the club car. I use my Bluetooth unit in the front car to supply my trailers amplifer. I have to say that is pretty loud.
