Default Battery Find

Well I am in the process of converting one of my club car precedents over to 6-8v batteries. On my quest to find the cheapest Trojan T890 batteries I ran across something almost to hard to turn down. I called my local Interstate batteries to see if they could get the Trojans I am looking for. They said no but they do sell 8v golf cart batteries. Long story short Interstate sells "blems" and they have them for $52.00 a piece so I ask what brand and what is the 5hr- ah and the 20h-ah. He said they get them from Johnson Controls Inc. but don't have stickers on them with specs. So I go the their website and they do furnish golf cart batteries to the club cart company but no specs. So I call them and they say they cannot release the specs of the batteries they make for Club Car.
Question is for 320.00 is it worth the risk? Not trying to make it across the country just run 15-20 miles or so.

If you knew the size and weight of the batteries you could take a wild *** guess at their ratings... What is the warranty of the blem batteries? While Interstate does market a good auto/truck battery when it comes to golf cart batteries you are dealing with a different breed of animal as even a marine deep cycle will not keep up with a golf deep cycle and thusly brand name and weight carry well the most weight.... If the batteries are light weights 15 to 20 miles might be a road too far... Also think about this who cares if a battery has a blem in its looks? I'd still pay full price for cosmetic blems... Are they blems in form and/or function? That would be my worry!

The batteries are not made by Interstate only purchased by them for resale as blems. Blems meaning outside has a scratch in the plastic etc.... They have a 1 year warranty. I also found batteries at O'reillys for 110.00 comparable to the Trojan 875s. Cheapest I've found the Trojan T-890 is 159.99 plus tax locally

I know that Interstate does not make them that is why I said they market them... Your not selling them to me (us) sell them to yourself; 52.00 dollars for a cosmetic blem battery that has a core value of 20 to 30 dollars just sounds too good to be true... I would not consider the smaller 875 or comparable equal as they may not have the endurance I would hope for... Have you asked around for CROWN brand battery? I found those locally to be cheaper than Trojan and they have a 2 year warranty and a very good reputation....

I have "blem" 6 volt Interstate batteries in my 36v CC. It turns out that they are a year or so old Interstate batteries that the label is taken off of and they put a label on that says "Econo Power" on it. The warranty around here is 90 days, but I was able to get a 6 month warranty because I had an issue with the previous "Blem" batteries they sold me

I paid $40 a piece

Reading this makes me question the 1 year warranty statement; I'd ask them to double check and want something in writing if they still claim to give a one year warranty on no name blem batteries... Usally a blem or refurb item has a much shorter warranty than new items...

No trying to sell them to you just asking if anyone has heard of or used these batteries. With heavy internet surfing I have found that if they sit on the shelf more than 6 months or so then they are sold as blems. I can however afford any battery I want just seeing the difference in 300 for the set vs 1000 for the set.

Hey don't get me wrong that's a good price even if they are cheap azz batteries and if if you can get them to back up the one year warranty that's even better... If I was on a really tight budget I'd be interested in them too... I'm just leary about any product that I can't get least some specs on as I've been lead down the money saving path before with off brands, and blems etc and usually I end up regretting the cost....

So I stopped by to have a look at the "blem" batteries to get the weight of one battery and a picture of the battery so maybe someone could recognize them. The weight is 68lbs. Per battery and below is a picture
As far as the blemish on the battery if you look at the neg. terminal you will see where there was a burr that was sanded off
