slow in reverse
I just bought a 1989 36v club car. It has little to know power in reverse. In forward it runs great on flat ground but struggles with hills. The batteries hold charge and I can get 18 holes on about half charge. Where should I start or is this normal for an older cart?

If you like it you can fashion yourself a copper buss bar between the 2 bottom lugs and use the one red 36v source. Welcome to BGW |

Re: slow in reverse
I found the wire that goes to the reverse side of the switch and moved it to another battery and it works great! I can easily back up my driveway now, thanks for the tip. Does anyone have any ideas on why it would struggle to climb hills in forward? It runs great on flat ground, 11-12mph consistently even at half charge. When I get to a hill it slows right down and barely climbs it.

Re: slow in reverse
1. Hill is a relative term - slowing on hills is normal electric cart operation
2. larger hills will slow the cart more 3. weak batteries will slow the cart much more on hills. Solution = install a digital battery meter and watch the voltage drop as you drive uphill. If the reading drops more than 6v you may have a battery problem. |
