You da man! Thanks. Wiring it like you show works, but I can't follow the logic. I guess the relay is switching the 36v positive. Can't see where the pack negative comes in.

If the relay is clicking, it should be working just like the old switch and passing the 36v from pack positive to the converter 36v input.

You must have a separate wire from the converter to pack negative somewhere. It would be the same for input and output on your converter model.

You are welcome, the relay is the best way to connect those converters without trigger wire.

With The key which off from battery negative to either side of the switch you should get fill voltage, the other side nothing, if so then it is the hot going across. Flip the switch and both sides of the switch should be hot (full voltage +)

Well, That converter did not last long. That's what I get for buying junk. I'm going to buy one from ScottyB that has the trigger wire for the key switch. Am I going to have trouble wiring that one due to this cart being negative switched? You guys are life savers.

Keep the relay.

Wire Scottyb converter directly to pack positive and negative.

Run the "trigger wire" to the +36v output of your relay (where the power to the old converter came from).

That will convert your negative key switch to the positive signal the converter needs in order to turn on.

Thanks Sergio. I just checked and the relay is still mounted. One other question, can I also just switch the "trigger wire" with a 10a 24vdc marine switch, or is it too much voltage? I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but what kind of switch would be best for 36vdc? Thanks again.

Any switch will do, the current is very small in the trigger wire (+36v).

I would suggest an led lighted switch so it is easier to remember when it is ON.
