Default Want to lift my precedent just an inch or two...

I realize this is probably a beaten horse question on here, and I don't frequent enough to see the answers all the time.

I did a search, and found nothing about the front, but found that HD rear springs will lift the rear about 1-1/2" which would be PERFECT!

What about the front? Is there anything I can do to lift the front just an inch or two, or 1-1/2" to match that rear spring lift?

My avatar has the HD rear springs and nothing in the front.

Here is mine now. I have oversized tires on it (compared to stock) since I use it 100% off road and out in the cow pasture and need knobby tires. Tires are 18x9.50-8. They work great, only rubbing a little on full chock turns.

But I also tend to have two to three people up front all the time, and often two more standing on the back, so I am bottoming out the rear suspension. Also, if the tire pressure goes down even a little, the frame (or most likely the leaf springs) hits the patio as I back off.

I figured an inch would cure it all, and 2" would be even better.

But I don't want 6" lift and needing larger rims and tires to make it look proportioned. And I don't want to spend that kind of money. A couple hundred bucks max.

While I haven't tried this, coming from a background lifting Jeeps I can tell you that a simple shackle would give you that little lift in the back. The front would require a bit more actual modification and/or fabrication most likely as there isn't really any adjustment.

I built a plate out of 1" think Aluminum that lifts the front of the cart 1 1/2"

Just remove the front spring, take your SPRING RETAINER PLATE down to your local Machine Shop and have them MILL one with the exact same holes in it at the SPRING RETAINER PLATE that is on your cart.

Get some ALL THREAD Stainless Steel Bolts about 2 1/2" long and insert them from the TOP SIDE until they bottom out...........

Then put the NEW PLATE that you just had milled, then reinstall everything back together, and use some STAINLESS STEEL NYLOCK NUTS from the bottom side to retain everything, be sure to check wheel alignment, and tighten everything back together.......

On the rear, have the same MACHINE SHOP fab you some REAR SHACKELS that are 1 1/2" longer and install them also, and you have successfully raised your cart 1 1/2" with all stock hardware.............

On My cart, I DID NOT lift the rear, I opted to install the larger tires and wheels ( 14" X 21" ) and I used a Jig Saw to cut the fenders, then used a Die Grinder with a sanding drum to smoothen out the rear fenders, and it looks factory as You can see in My profile photo....

Hope this helps you out

I have a milling machine on the property...so half of the problem is already solved!

That sounds just about like what I need to do!

Thanks for the suggestion!

OK, new 3-leaf heavy duty springs on the rear and lifted it about an inch.

I added a 1" lifting block on the front, and it LOOKS GREAT!!!

BUT...about 50' into my test drive and the front spring snapped in half.

So, I need to buy a new spring.

When looking, I see various model numbers, ie. G or E.

My serial number is PH0844-976135. How do I tell which model number this is so I can order the correct spring?

I thought it was because I stuck that 1" block in there. That may have been the straw that broke the camel's back, but the real reason was because under the black paint, that spring was pretty rusty. Once I swapped out the spring for a new one, I noticed that where the old one broke only about half of the metal was fresh (not corroded).

Good thing it broke near home. AND now that I have a new spring on it, it has lifted the front about an inch, like I wanted in the first place!!!

And that is WITHOUT the lifting block.

I re-aligned it all, and now the wheels don't rub at all.

Apparently, as the spring was starting to rust, it was also sagging and lowering the front of the cart.
