Default Curtis 1268 Controller

I'll be getting off ship in a couple days and headed home to TN and will be installing a Curtis 1268 500 Amp Controller in my 2011 Excel cart. I've also got a new 400/1000 amp solenoid to go with this install. My question which I'll ask FSIP is why do they specifically state to remove the resister that would normally be installed across the the main post of the solenoid? Thought y'all might have some input on why this is....
