Default Hey fellas. Got a question about cable upgrades.

Still trying to learn everything I can about modding my buggy before I actually do it.

I've read that there is a slight noticeable difference in torque when you up the wire size to #4 or #2 wire. I've also read that you have to use a stud kit to go through the OBC.

My question is, why cant you leave that particular wire going through the OBC and then double up and route your larger cable around to make the connection. I'm not sure if I'll upgrade cables but I'd like to know just in case. I couldn't really find anything using the search function on the subject.

Do a search. I think I read that it won't work

some people use the 2 cable work around . I chose to use the stud though the obc on my 2 gauge so I didn't want the extra connections on my controller and the neg battery post.

do it once and do it right

This is very simple to install a pass through stud.

I did that two wire scenario for a long time and i found trouble charging. Someone on here said the obc wont recognize the full potential since the voltage passing through is shared via the 2nd. I believe there is something to that in my case. I went to the bolt method.
As for larger wires its less resistance so more amps imo and i went to 2ga.

4 ga welding cable will go through the hole in the obc. Use the stud for anything larger. I believe some of the obc's will not work correctly with the extra cable going around it.

It looks to me that in this case it would be cheaper to do it the right way. With the stud.

Well that's a big 10-4. I guess I know how I'll do the cable upgrade if I decide to. Thanks for the info guys.
