How would I go about testing that? Would I have to jack the tires off the ground with the motor off of cart, and then spin the tire while watching the output shaft and count the number of rotations? Or would I have to take rear end apart and count the teeth on the gear?
Thanks

You can get pretty close by spinning the wheels one rev and counting the motor input gear rev and/or vise versa...

Look forward to reading the results.
Mark the tire and spline with chalk, white out, or tape
Turn it for 2 tire revolutions and divide by 2 to get a better read on it.

Would that be an aftermarket gear change or did CC make different ratios?

CC may have made a slightly lower set for their XRT like Ezgo did for the workhorse type models... but I suspect a 25% change typical of aftermarket gears. This would explain an excessive amperage draw creating unwanted heat.

Ok I marked the tire and one spline on the shaft. I rotated the tire 2 times. the shaft turned approximately 12.3 revolutions. So it's roughly around 6 to 1 or 6 to 1.??.
What gear ratio would that be?

I think stock is closer to 12:1 . What you have is a pretty high speed gear, they also make 8:1 high speed gears.

If that's the case, it was like that when I bought it. I bought it used. I've had it for 2 years now. I hope that is the case! It would make sense of all the motors I've been burning up.
