If your going to change the rear, ever thought of a two speed? You could get a Low for hunting & then the normal for cruising. Actually I don't know about that I heard people tend to burn up their motor because they never switch gears for the occasion.

The controller and motor was supposed to be matched up with my cart setup the way it was except for I didn't know it had high speed gears in it. I'm thinking it should be good once I put the 12:1 rear end in it. Do you think it'll still be off?

As long as it is setup for the current motor that you have now, if you have a different motor in it then what you told the folks you ordered it from then you will need to reprogram it.

I'm gonna try to play it safe. It's been exspensive along the way. Right now I'll trade out my high speed rear end for a stock one. It's off the cart now and it's for sale or trade.

It's programmed for the way it is now. I'm putting same motor back in. I just sent it off yesterday to be rebuilt or replaced. Everything should be great after changing the rear gears back to stock like I thought it was supposed to be.

LOL yes it can get expensive, you will be happy once all said and done. Take a temperature reading of the motor when all done I'd like to compare to mine.

UPDATE:
Well I have bad news. The rearend that I have is stock. It never had high speed gears in it. The process of turning the hub 1 rev and counting the shaft revs is not the way to see what gear you got. I thought I had 6:1 gears. Not so. I have 12:1 stock gears. I tried three other rearends from a local shop and they confirmed they were stock. So we did the rev test on them as well. All 3 of them were the same outcome....6:1. I haven't mechanically torn the rearend apart to compare. I don't feel a need to do so.
So, D&D warrantied my motor and I should receive it on Thursday. They also sent me new perameters to change in my controller. I will post the outcome when all has been done. Even if they programmed it wrong to begin with, it still don't make no sense why I burned up 2 PQ motors in the first place.

So the stock carts are 6:1 and your stock cart is 12:1?

Yes. That's what you'll get if you try to test it like I did. Turning the wheel 1 rotation and counting the number of times the spline shaft turns. You'll get 6 complete rotations on the shaft TO 1 rotation of the wheel. It would seem to be a 6:1 gear as per Scottyb's instructions. But in reality it's a 12:1 stock gear. Where they get the 12:1 I don't have a clue. Maybe someone can enlighten me on the situation??? If anyone had a high speed gear, I would like to know the outcome of how many times the shaft turns with one rotation of the wheel???
