Purple Problems

We're still trying to diagnose the no-go issue with our 2003 Series Club Car (no controller here.)

We found a dangling slightly burnt purple wire to the motor and thought - Eureka! - that's why the cart won't go. We got it reattached, checked for continuity and.... nothing still.

We've put in a new solenoid, new VGlide m/s, and checked all the batteries. The other m/s on the f/r switch also checked out okay. We've done general continuity checks on all the wires such as the key switch and all seem good, although we're not noting exact readings and matching them up with any standards (i.e., 36 volts on batteries.) Inside of VGlide looked good upon visual inspection.

Anyone have any other steps for us to check?

. . . I assume you checked the diode . . . in meantime, check my post in your other thread . . I posted a pdf file for you with a schematic on page 12-4 . . .

Which one is the diode exactly? There is nothing across the posts on the solenoid nor anywhere around the solenoid-- you know, like a wire with a little cylinder in the middle.

The only thing that we haven't identified is the beige box that dangles from a wire connected to the solenoid that looks like the old style phone jack that was attached to the baseboard in your house. It's says "Lester" on it so I'm assuming it has something to do with the charger. The cart charges fine. Is that and should it be replaced/checked?

. . that little box is a "snubber" . . . not a diode . . look at page 12-4 of the pdf file from other thread . . . you will see where the diode is on the solenoid . . .

I've looked everywhere and I don't see a diode.

The (now new) solenoid was clicking when the purple wire to the motor was disconnected and now that we've reattached it, the solenoid doesn't click.

I'm missing something - is this a resistor coil cart or controller cart?

I haven't heard of this problem before.There may be a short in the F&R ? But it seems unlikely
It might be worth removing all 4 wires from the motor to test for a short in the motor.
There should be continuity between the A1 & A2 and between S1 and S2 but no continuity between any A and any S terminals.
