Building a Precedent from ground up
I want to start from the frame and go from there. Can I buy just the frame and from where? Where can I get a parts/ maintenance manual and oem parts like the frame etc?
Powder coating frame red and using black plastic body with a lift and higher torque / speed electric motor, locking differential, Jakes extended double A-arm 6" lift and disk brakes, and 12" rims with Maxxis bighorn tires. Will be used as a quiet all- terrain vehicle and hunting cart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Building a Precedent from ground up
Sounds like a cool plan. Not sure where you could just buy a frame, but maybe look for a cheaper stock Precedent on your classifieds...
Good luck and have fun! |

Re: Building a Precedent from ground up
if you do a ground up, convert it to SERIES. TahoeDawgZ71 can make you a harness and he labels everything for it. i had no issues with it.
i started off with new Trojan 875, a 700 amp HD f/r contactor 2 ga wires from Scotty b. i had plumb quick build me a torque motor i think its called the Grizzly. i got 26 in big horns on the Jakes long arm lift. I wanted alittle extra so i added a 24 volt boost using two marine blue top optima. with the 26 in tires on 48 volts it runs 25 -27 on road. with boost it will jump up to 35+/-. starting off at 4-5 mph when i hit the boost button it send all 72 volts to motor and will stand strait up. I'm sure its hard on motor so i don't hit boost until i get up to at least 10 mph. but with the torque motor its jumps to 10 pretty fast. the amp draw on the road at top speed is 30-40 amps. nothing never gets hot. i already took it mud riding and have had no problems. the only thing i need now are disk brakes. oh the other thing i had to change was the OBC. but i had an older one from a series DS cart that i had for parts. so the CC charger works fine. I also had to build another rack behind the factory one to hold the extra f/r contactor and extra solenoid. i made this rack from parts off of the DS cart. RUSS |

Re: Building a Precedent from ground up
i bought the bagwell box that is made for the DS. i had to do alittle trimming on the bagwell floor. i made a plywood floor for the inside of the box to hold the batteries in place. plenty of room for three batteries. the Optimas weigh 20-25lbs cause they are AGM. it sits low so it doesn't hurt the center of gravity. i charge them with a off the shelf 12 volt charger. like i said i may buy a 24 volt charger designed to charge AGM cause you can get a couple more volts out of AGMs. I don't remember if i said before the optimas are sealed AGMs. i wouldn't try putting lead acid cause of the weight issue. But let me tell you the blue top marine battery is a bad a$$ battery. Expensive as all get out but well worth it.
also if i wanted to put a rear seat, i could the box sits low enough. being the Optimas are sealed. zero maintance other than spraying red stuff on terminals. |
