Default Very cloudy electrolyte in one batt

I have a 2011 CC Precedent with the the original batteries. They are at least in fair condition with all but one battery up around 8.45 - 8.48v after a charge and then a 10 -12 hour rest. That one batt is usually at 8.35 - 8.38v.

That particular battery has two cells with very cloudy electrolyte. One of the two cells only tests in the "fair" range on my hydrometer float even after a fresh charge. Is this cloudiness an indication of anything specific (other than perhaps someone added dirty water at some point)? The cloudiness is sort of a gray color. Is there anything to do about this condition?

Default Re: Very cloudy electrolyte in one batt

Per two "battery websites": Check for cloudy or discolored electrolyte caused
by overcharging or vibration. This could cause high
self discharge. The problem should be corrected
and the battery replaced.

If the electrolyte of a battery on charge has a white, milky look, there may be impurities which cause numerous minute bubbles to form, such bubbles giving the electrolyte its milky appearance. The milky appearance may be due to the use of "hard" water in refilling, this water containing lime.

There are lots of opinions out there....here were just two.
