Type G Axle Bearing
Hoping someone can give me some assistance on replacing the axle bearings on my 08 Club Car Precedent. The service manual says if the bearings are bad the drivers side and passenger axle assemblies have to be replaced. Seems like overkill if just the bearings are bad. Cost of the parts is over $600

Re: Type G Axle Bearing
Club Car doesn't sell the bearings separate. But that doesn't mean a bearing supplier doesn't sell them. Take the axles out and get the number off of the bearings and order them from a bearing supplier.

Re: Type G Axle Bearing
Thanks Tahoe, I'll give it a try. There is a lot of noise coming off the backend when the cart moves forward. I can get the bearings for the transaxle but not the axle shafts.

Re: Type G Axle Bearing
That's correct. Have fun pressing them off. I've been told the reason they don't sell them is for liability reasons. A hydraulic press can be a dangerous weapon.

Re: Type G Axle Bearing
I know this is a really old post. I have a 2003 DS with a G Type Rear end. I have to replace the axle bearings. There is a snap ring on the collar that I have taken off. Can it be pressed off?

Re: Type G Axle Bearing
Yes, the axle should pop out with the bearing on it, then the bearing can be pressed off.
It can be pressed back on with a piece of pipe or the “ correct special tool”. |

Re: Type G Axle Bearing
Ok I looks like it should come off but I bent the **** out of a cheap bearing puller. I ordered a large press with a 24 inch working range and a new bearing splitter. I will give it a try. Thanks
