2006 Club Car Precedent motor/controller upgrade
Guys I have a stock motor/ controller in my cart. This is a cart I have a 6" lift and 22" tire on. I have it turned up to level 3 but after that its stock. I use this as a hunting cart and I want to install a motor / controller upgrade to get more torque. I am looking at the 11 hp motor. Has anyone done this to their Precedent and who has the best set up for a motor/controller package? I am also converting from a 4x12v to a 6x8v battery set up at the same time. Anything I should watch out for during this upgrade? Thanks for any help

Re: 2006 Club Car Precedent motor/controller upgrade
From my own experience I give you my opinion. If strictly a hunting cart, meaning you will treat it as a work horse and speed is no concern then I'd look at a series motor, old style. They can work harder and produce a ton of torque and the biggest deal is less heat. This will extend the life of the motor, making it durable and reliable. When the cart manufactures went to the shunt motors they weren't designing these for hunting or off roading other than the normal golf course.
Do the complete upgrade and from that day on, focus on the hunt! :) Call ScottyB (sponsor) he has complete conversion kits you can get, basically plug and play type thing. Again, my opinion for what it is worth. |

Scottyb will set you up. I went with the 500 amp controller, larger cables, and D&D high torque motor. Very happy with the set up. But than you will get tired of the rough ride and need a L.T. front end and than a locker rear end for the mud. The list goes on and on. So things to watch out for is your wallet.
Welcome to B.G.W. and the money pit. But it's so fun. |

Re: 2006 Club Car Precedent motor/controller upgrade
Talked to ScottyB first as he put a package together for a friend with an Ezgo and he said he was waiting on any Precedent packages until some new controller came out in the spring so I am a little in limbo as I need it before deer season. ScottyB if I am wrong please let me know. Thanks for the comments guys.
