Short steering bellows 2000 DS
I got the parts to fix the front suspension and steering on the 2000 DS I picked up. After replacing the bent upper A arms, I noticed the short steering bellows is torn. Is there anything holding it on other than the strap? It looks like you just stretch the new one over the end and install the strap. Am I missing something?

Re: Short steering bellows 2000 DS
. . are you talking about the rubber boot, ie, dust cover? it is held on with a wire wrap (tie wrap) on one end . . .

Re: Short steering bellows 2000 DS
Yes, the one on the driver side. After much dirt removal and further inspection, there is as retaining ring that secures it to the shaft on the opposite end from the strap. The dust cover/boot/bellows seems so tight around the shaft that the retainer is probably redundant.
