That is heavy oil for an electric cart, doubt you need to replace twice a year unless your using it lots daily under heavy loads.

I have Royal Purple 30w since 2010 for my CC which can do 30+ mph and is street legal. No noise and no problems for over 4 years...

Can get it online at Amazon if your local Auto Parts store doesn't carry it.

There are many opinions out there on this topic so be your own judge.

I can't agree more, it would be like using motor oil in your transmission, it just not made for that LOL

I've been following this post...

Am I correct in reading that:

30w non-detergent oil is the preferred/recommended lube for the rear end ?
Royal Purple synthetic 30w would work well (or not..)...?

I've attached Lubrication Maintenance from a 1997 DS picture and a PDF page from a 2006-2007 Precedent manual, both showing SAE 30w, 22 ounces. And if I remember correctly, if you use the "Fill level to the bottom of the fill hole" you'll use more then 22 ounces.

22 oz. (0.67 liters) SAE 30 WT. API, Class SE, SF, or SG Oil (or higher)

I read that the recommended specs are for a standard golf cart with no extra load. If your cart is used on a daily basis with more load and more torque that you need to use a heavier weight. It did not specify how much higher weight but that it needed to be greater. Fact is that as long as the weight is 30 or greater u are OK and shouldn't have to worry. I changed mine to 30w and then back to the 70 royal purple to see if there was a speed difference today and I seen absolutely no change in the acceleration time to top speed nor did I see a difference in top speed. I did my own study on it today because it was really eating me up about the difference.

This is what I read. There is no difference in viscosity between 30W motor oil and 70W gear oil. Like the other guy said, "be your own judge".
