Re: making a new precedent faster
I believe there are actually 4 speed settings. 1-3 can be programmed with a programmer and nothing else. Setting it to 4 however requires a code from Club Car for which they charge. Unfortunately, the programmer is not cheap. I think it is in the $700 range. I'm not sure what your goal speed is, but for reference mine is set to 3 and I top out at 17mph with 23" tires. With the speed setting set at 4 I think I would be closer to 24mph. Club Car advertises the top speed on stock tires to be 19.7mph.

Welcome to the forum BigCountryClubbn'.............
To program your cart to the #3 speed setting will be minimal costs, if any. Usually to set it to the #4 speed setting will cost about $75.00. A code number with decals has to me mailed from Club Car to the dealer who programms the cart and attaches the decals to the 4th speed only, because it is a little faster then, than the normal golf course speeds and prescribed legal speeds. |

BTW, Alltrax makes aftermarket controllers that can be programmer via computer. Either way you are spending money. |

Re: making a new precedent faster
Call around to some cart shops and see if they can re-program it. I just had mine done for $50.00! I told them I did not need the stickers or the safety warning!

Re: making a new precedent faster
make sure that the #4 speed will be greater than the #3 speed. on the new modles it is the same they just charge you money to change it to #4. some dealers do not know this. be sure they will stand behind the change that it will increase the speed. some carts i have seen this done to were no faster just you have a lighter pocket book.
hope you can find a way to get the speed up to 25 mph. good luck. |

Re: making a new precedent faster
Take a portable GPS with you. Check the speed before the code change and the speed after the code change. If it does not go 19.7mph after the change don't pay them!!
It's not rocket science! Thatguy |
