Ok anyone out there know how I should proceed on testing a controller? Or should roll the unit of a cliff?

You can try this for testing only. Lets see if anyone else has agreement or option.

Jack the rear tires off the ground and put the cart on jack stands. Jump B- and M- at the controller to bypass the controller.*Make the final connection away from the controller*and*raise the rear tires off the ground*before jumping the controller, it's going to run at wide open throttle. If it runs with the jumper I'd say the controller is bad.Don't let the cart run at full speed with the rear tires off the ground..

Ok, jump b- and m- and yes the wheels be a spinning! So now what, replace the controller? We just replaced batteries about a year ago. Should we go with a normal controller, higher end controller?

Epb test shows the motor works. But it bypasses a few items that could cause the cart to not run but are not the controller.

We bypassed the solenoid - no run
The motor works.

Lets test 2 things.
1. Test the throttle signal to the controller. To do this disconnect the small wires from controller terminal number two and three.
Plug a test lead into each small terminal of these two wires. Set the test meter to ohms Ω. (In the 20,000 range) No power is needed for this test. Simply read the meter with the petal at rest and at full throttle and post the readings here. We are looking for something in the range of 5000 -0 . A good reading will eliminate a bottle signal problem.

2. Test the controller output. Put the throttle signal wires back on terminals two and three. Verify that you have 48 V positive at terminal #1 one when you try to go with the key on, cart in gear, pedal down. If yes, we now know there is power to the controller circuit board and the throttle signal is correct.

With your meter set on DC volts, Put one test lead on large controller terminal M- in the other on B-. You should read full pack voltage when the solenoid clicks closed and that voltage should go down near zero when the petal is pressed to the Floor. If everything else checks out but, this test fails… The controller is junk.

Ok,performed all the test and it looks to me that I have a bad controler. So do you have any recommendations?

Well, since you have to get a new controller (I had a feeling that was it, saw a LOT of the stock controllers on the 36 volt controller carts at the course where I worked go up in smoke, literally.) it would be a good time to upgrade - the question we need to answer now is what do you use your cart for? Does it have a rear seat, and do you climb a lot of hills? Do you use it to tow? If yes, then a larger amperage controller (stock was 275, upgrades usually 400 amp or higher) is the answer. If you go that route, you WILL need to upgrade the solenoid and the FNR switch also at minimum, and a cable upgrade is strongly recommended. Scottyb is the man to talk to for these questions, check out his site (cartsunlimited.net) or contact him and he'll help you out.

If you are gong to keep it as is for resort get a new oem controller. I would look in classifieds first. If you are going to go for torque speed lift or any mod then you are talking money. Look at scottyb packages and other site sponsors to evaluate where you are willing to go.
I hope you get it back to running soon.

Thank you all for all the inputs. We do have mountains so if I am going to replace the controller, (as suggested) with a higher amp unit. And since this is the oldest golf cart I will take the back seat out, use it as a maintenance cart.
