Default Jakes 6" a-arm lift/stock tie rod question?

Hello all, I have been lurking for a while and finally signed up recently after purchasing my first cart. Have used this forum for tons of information and thank all the contributors.

I purchased a 2011 Club car ds iq cart and after a little research I went with a jakes 6" a-arm lift. After watching a few random videos, and following through the directions, got everything out and in rather easy up until now. My issue is between my 3 tie rod ends (tie rod both sides and steering rack rod) none of rods fit through the pre drilled holes in the spindles. It's not even close. I know I can always drill the holes out, but drilling through 1/4" steel isn't the easiest thing to do plus the black coating will be removed.

I'm trying to figure out what went wrong. Did the lift come drilled wrong or does my cart have different/wrong/afternarket tie rod ends?

When I google tie rod ends for a Club Car DS I see different rods. Thanks all for the help.

Barry

Unless CC changed the tie rod ends from what they've been since 1980, those are not the original tie rod ends. The originals should look something like this:

I'm not sure what to do. I'm going to call jakes tomorrow and see what they say. I don't want to drill three holes.

Update- Spoke with Jake's. In 2009 Club car started using different tie rods. The newer rod's are 1/2' straight bolts. The older style were tappered and skinnier in diameter.

They have thought about selling the newer style but decided against it. They advised me to drill out the holes to 1/2''. I am not thrilled that my brand new kit needs to me drilled, and wish this was something they advised me when I initially called and ordered the kit direct through Jake's. I at least could have had the correct drill bit on hand to complete the installation over the weekend. Hopefully this helps anyone else with a newer Club Car DS installing this kit.

Ok, thanks for the update. It sounds like they need to start making a new kit designed for the newer tie rods. That is a drag that you have to do that...
