Default Anybody using the SPM 48600?

I want a new controller on my "street cart" so I was thinking of pulling the SPM 48500 off my off road cart and going with the SPM 48600. Anybody know what if any performance increases I should get with the 48600 over the 48500? I've heard that a cart can't "use" more than 500 amps.

I might be interested in the 500 if you go that route.

The 500 will go on cart 2 but I'll have a AXE 400 that might be available.

I have an AXE 500 that I think has crapped the bed.

I have never compared a Spm 500 & 600 side-by-side, but i have used both & really liked both. One note of caution- the Spm 600 is not available in the short case that fits in the original TXT mounting location (it wont fit there at all if you had 8x 6v under the seat like i did). If you have only 6 or 7 batteries under the seat, you could make brackets to put it under there. I put one in the back, above the motor (required a different, taller "service cover". Now for the second question, "can a golf cart use 600 amps?". YES* - If you have a motor that can handle it, cables that can handle it, F&R that can handle it, solenoid that can handle it, you see where this is going. A 600 amp controller will kill a stock motor in short order. There are 3 reasons why a 600amp controller could be beneficial. 1- slightly better acceleration (you would need a stopwatch to tell difference from 500a). 2- slightly more amps available on the steepest of hills, where "rated continuous output" could help. 3- the bigger controller MIGHT run a little cooler during normal operation, because it has more cooling area, and is farther away from its maximum output during cruise operation. Do you need a 600? Not unless your cart is "built to the max" with huge tires, or drag racing intentions.

Thanks Cgtech, great info. Luckily I have already moved my controller over the motor. I measured and the larger box will fit. Sure I don't "need" 600 amps but you convinced me to do it anyway. I WANT it.
