Default 36 volt EZ GO charger keeps on charging

Evening all

I have a 96 EZ GO cart, my batteries are topped up. However when I plug in my powerwise charger it keeps on charging at 10 amps to the point where the water in the batteries is boiling in the cells. I disconnected the charger when I saw the boiling, but is there a part in my charger that is not sensing my batteries are topped up? I have put battery tester on all the batteries. To much resistance in the series cables?

I'm stumped, anyone offer a suggestion.

Thanks

Edh

There is boiling, and there is BOILING. Gassing of batteries during charging is a normal process. Is this cart new to you? What is the recent history?

How old are the batteries? If charger continues to run it "thinks" that the pack is not fully charged. This could be from one bad cell to one bad battery or more.

Check the specific gravity of each cell on each battery.

Can you check your charger by plugging it in to a another cart and see if it cycles?

it could be the batteries if they are old the charger may just never want to shut off..........so take soime voltage readings from batts, then load test them and check cells with hydrometer.......it may be time for a new set of batteries..................

Check the voltage of each cell with the charger disconnected. Bet you will find one or more cells bad (lower than all the others.
