Default 1999 EZGO - Unused for 2 years WONT CHARGE

Just picked up a 1999 EZGO from a guy who said it has been sitting for at least 2 years. Came with 6 batteries that he said he removed so he could tow it.

I installed all 6 batteries, some of the cables slightly corroded. The batteries might be completely shot, but when I plug in the charger nothing happens?

Should the charger at least turn on and try to charge even if the batteries are completely shot? My charger works on my other ezgo, so the charger isnt the issue.

I was hoping these batteries might have some juice left, but if it doenst charge ill never know. What do i do?

Those batteries are too low for the charger to detect. You can try charging them individually with a automotive style battery charger to "pick them up". Sitting un-cared-for for 2 years is a death sentence for those batteries, plan on getting some other batteries..

Charger won't charge until it see around 28 volts from the battery pack. How old are these batteries? More then likely there shot.

If you don't have a 6V charger, you can charge them in pairs with a 12V charger.
They don't have to be disconnected. See attachment.

I have a charger that has a 6V option on it (6amps) i threw that on one of the batteries. So do i need to individually charge all 6? then throw the charger on there and see what happens?

Also how long should i leave the 6v charger (6amps) on each battery?

I will pick up a volt meter tomorrow morning.

I would start by charging each individual battery for a half hour (it may take longer than this), then connect regular charger. Might want to wait 'till you have a voltmeter so you can keep track of whats going on. Once you have a volt meter, you could just charge each battery 'till it hits a preset voltage (like 5.5v each) so they all start the same when you hook up regular charger. When you get the regular charger going, it may take several back-to-back charge cycles to fully charge them. Keep in mind these batteries may be totally shot, i suspect the best you should expect to get out of them is just enough juice to see if the cart runs. Only add enough distilled water to just cover the plates inside the batteries, or you will have a huge mess when they are charging.

Although the batteries are probably shot, they can sometimes be resurrected to a degree by "cycling" them, that is: charge them fully, run the cart for a short time, maybe a half mile to a full mile, then charge them again. Basically, what cgtech said, with the addition of a discharge cycle. Make sure all corrosion is cleaned and all connections are clean & tight.

UPDATE: I tried charging each battery for 30 mins - hour, some more and less than others (lost track of time). This morning i tried putting the charger on, and still no luck it wont kick on.

However, i turned the cart to 'run' mode and hit the gas, and the cart starting beeping rapidly ' beep beep beep beep' while i had the charger on there. I took the charger off of one of the batteries and the beeping continued but slower ' beep.. beep.. beep".

Let me know if that makes sense, and what the beeping means? some kind of warning/error?

GaC,
You need to measure each battery's voltage with a DVM. Without those measurements, we and you are literally shooting in the dark.

Turn the light on, please. :-)
