Cool What motor can I use?

I have a 1986 ezgo and I`m rebuilding it.I would like to find a replacement motor.As I was looking at them I didn`t see the same motor I need.The one in it is a 5BO48JB783A EZGO Textron,2HP,36Volt.The cart #`s are S/N392023,M/C C1586 .I`f someone could help me I would appreciate it.

they more than likely don,t make that motor anymore so hang onto it in case you need to have it rebuilt, i,ll look to see if i can find any that they are using to replace it.........................................

kinda figured that but thought I could upgrade without changing controlers ,also battries are in series

well if its an 86 it won,t have a controller.........................

has the coil speed control? with the wiper setup,didn`t they have that tell early 90`s

thats a resisto cart.......where are they located in canter of battery bank or off belind left rear inner fender area?............... regardless we,ll find eiyther a motor or we,ll be able to have yours redone but they do make aftermarket motors i beleive.....................

if the motor can,t be replaced and i think with some looking around it will be able to they do make all the parts to repair it.............what exactly is the problem your hasving with your motor?...........................

If your motor is parallel with the rear axle then it likely has a helical cut gear on the end of the shaft that mates with the differential. It is not splined as are the newer motors. Your best bet is to send the motor to EMP for a rebuild. They do good work and are a sponsor of this fine forum.

I second that. I had called three or four places and could not get what I was looking for before I called EMP. I placed the order with EMP on the first call there. Very knowledgable, reasonable prices, give them a call and see if they can help you.
