Accessory suggestions for TXT PDS
I recently picked up a 2005 EZGO TXT PDS. I need to start getting some accessories for it. Any suggestions for the following?
Windshield , rearview mirror, light kit, 12V voltage converter, battery meter. New cables from Carts Unlimited is already on my list. Thanks! |

Rear View Mirror - I tried the five-panel type and it drove me crazy. Vibration and there were gaps and overlaps in panel angles. Ended up replacing it with a wide angle (convex) bolted to the center of the roof support. (Can be seen in attached pictures.) Light kit - http://store.tecscan.com/ Seen installed on my cart in pictures. Barely draws any power. Horn uses the highest amps (2A) DC to DC converter (Voltage reducer) - http://www.cartsunlimited.net/DC_Reducer.html Works with anything from 26V to 60V on the input and puts out up to 30A at 12V. Battery Meter - http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Digita...ry_Meters.html Get the keyswitch - F/R switch - SoC meter panel for it. Mine is connected directly to battery and runs 24/7. |

I love that light kit. I am a little concerned about the kit being street legal in Texas...specifically in my neighborhood. I am not worried about being pulled over, but we have to get our cart inspected by the town police. I will take the gamble!

The switched functions can handle a lot more wattage than the LED bars use, so additional LED "Headlights" can be wired into the circuit. Also, the control module has a separately switch Accessory output that will power incandescent bulbs. I don't remember offhand what the wattage rating of the various circuits are, but they are many times the watts used by the standard LED bars, which use next to nothing. With nothing turned on, the control unit draws about 125ma and with everything lit up, it draws well under 1A. The horn draws 2A. Total throughput for the control unit is 120W (10A) and total LED usage is 7.7W, (See attached) so the is some headroom to play with. About the only time I use the headlights on my cart to actually see with is getting to and from the secluded spot we watch the 4th of July fireworks, and they provide all the illumination I need to see the trail to/from it. Other than that, the tail/brakes/turn lights come in mighty handy letting the drivers behind me know what I'm going to do. I drive my cart on the streets in a small town quite often and I had several cars pull out of parking places and driveways in front of me, so I'm thinking about adding a couple lights on the roof and tapping into the headlight wiring, and maybe a strobe also ran by the Accessory output. http://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics%C2%.../dp/B00AG91P0Y |

Found this interesting info.
http://www.dmv.org/tx-texas/other-ty...ther-Vehicles- Off-Highway Vehicle Registration in TX Low speed vehicles (LSV) and neighborhood electric vehicles (NEV) must be titled and registered to travel on Texas roads. A vehicle is classified as LSV or NEV if: Its normal top speed is 25 MPH for an LSV or 35 MPH for an NEV. It has all of the following equipment: ―Seat belts ―Headlights ―Taillights ―Turn signals ―Brake lights ―Reflectors ―Windshield. ―A 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) To get your LSV or NEV titled and registered, visit your local county tax office with: Proof of ownership (manufacturer's certificate of origin (MCO) or a current title from another state). A completed Application for Texas Certificate of Title (Form 130-U). Proof of insurance. Payment to cover all fees. Golf carts, ATVs, utility vehicles, and recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) are not normally allowed to be driven on public roads and therefore do not qualify to be registered. Some cities do allow for golf carts to travel on certain roads. Exceptions to Road Restrictions Golf carts may be operated within a planned community that allows them to be driven within the neighborhood. Farmers, ranchers, and their employees may operate an ATV, a utility vehicle, or an ROV on public roads within 25 miles of the farm they own or work on. |

It does call out TWO head lights and TWO tail lights specifically. Equipment Requirements: - Headlamps (2) - Tail lamps (2) - Side reflectors (2 amber in front, 2 red in rear) - Slow Moving Vehicle Emblem - Windshield - Parking Brake - Rear View Mirror (1 exterior driver side, 1 interior or exterior passenger side) - Horn (audible for 200 feet) - Front and rear turn signal lamps |
