Add about 5lb for the box and packing.
My motor weighs 53lb and the shipping weight was 58lb.

It might fit, but I highly doubt the box will survive the trip intact. USPS supplies VERY thin boxes.

HE-LL NO, IT WONT FIT. 55lb is about what you should expect. Package it up good (wrapped and packed with cardboard supports in the box). It has to stay in the box all the way there, and it's heavy so it can break out of the box with careless handling by people who don't know what's in the box.

Use a double wall cardboard box (Home Depot has them). Maybe buy an extra box to cut up and use as spacers inside to secure the motor from movement. Regular packing tape won't work, use heavy duty tape with fiberglass reinforcement.

Another suggestion. Ask PQ to mail you an empty shipping box. They have special boxes with internal packing for the best protection.

I always figured that I would slip 1 or 2 layers of butcher wrap between the armature and field windings, drill a hole in a scrap piece of plywood to go over shaft, screw the plywood to the housing, then take it to the UPS store to be packed and shipped. It would might cost more but if something happened they couldn't give me the old " it wasn't packed right" dance.
