Default 2009 EZGO RXV Charging issue

Hey guys

I know that there has been numerous threads about this but i just wanted to make sure that Im doing the right thing.

2009 48Volt RXV. Each time that I plug the charger in, I get two flashing red lights. Is this a bad charger and are they worth repairing? The charger is a Powerwise QE.

Thanks

2 red flashes is battery voltage fault.
This does not indicate a charger fault. So first step in troubleshooting is to
look at problem charger is indicating
--Under or over voltage.--

I Would like to help--

please post:

Does your cart have a state of charge meter(gas gauge)?
if so,what does it indicate?

does cart run?

battery pack voltage
individual Battery voltage
Battery manufacture
Battery age

QE charger is a good charger. It is a smart charger that will maintain batteries if
left plugged in for extended storage.

Some do not like that it is not user serviceable, but repair is available.

No it doesn't have a state of charge gauge.

Cart does run. Not long, severely under charged.

Pack Voltage. 44.3
Individual voltage. All Range within 2 hundredths of each other
US Battery with K13 date.

Thank in advance for your help

How about the pack voltage while charger is charging? 44 volts is low for a 48 volt system. Can you try another charger?

If you have (4) 12volt batteries and a 12 Volt charger you can try charging each battery individually. And see if that fixes it

Trojan website says 46.03v is a 10% State of charge

Last edited by pat5000; 12-13-2014 at 03:11 PM.. Reason: state of charge Numbers did not match Trojans website

Like he said above, I would charge at least one battery separately and get it up to over 12 volts. Then you could plug in the rxv charger and hopefully the pack will be high enough for the charger to kick on

Try another charger, or try charging each battery with a car type battery charger. Then re-test your charger, when it still doesnt work, get a DPI, dont waste money repairing the original charger

QE charger needs @46v to kick in.
use standard 12v car charger on each battery individually then try cart charger.

Voltage is too low for QE charger to power up-- so you get battery fault.

Charger seems to be operating as designed-- does not seem to be charger problem.

You might invest in a factory RXV "Gas" gauge.. Easy to install- factory plug behind dash.

Remove dash -- use hole saw to make hole-- push gauge in -- plug into harness,,

The customer claims that he has been charging the cart about 3 times a week, He was thinking it was the batteries, but when cart was delivered this morning I drove for about 15 mins straight and I was getting low 11's on each battery. He claims he charged cart last night and confirmed hearing the charger last night also.
