Potential EZ Go Owner - Questions!
A local gentlemen has two golf carts for sale. We talked about $550 for both -- Both are EZ GO TXT DCS (1999) -- one runs great but needs new batteries and the other is basically for parts. They include a charger.
So I'm basically just poking around to see if it's worth it or not. My husband has wanted a golf cart for a long time and I'm thinking of surprising him with this "project", of sorts. What would be my battery options? I understand that new batteries would be about $600. Is there a cheaper alternative? Thanks! |

Re: Potential EZ Go Owner - Questions!
New batteries from "off brands" may be around $600, but around here a Trojan or US Battery (regarded as the top brands in the golfcart industry) will cost more than that. The deal on the carts sounds like a pretty good deal, if you can verify the "running" one actually runs (can it move at all under its own power?).

"Move under it's own power?" -- What do you mean by that? (I apologize, new to golf carts! I was an leasing agent at an apartment complex and that's all I got!)

Turn they key "on", put gear selector in "F" or "R", press gas. Will it drive at all, will it try to move? So you can say for sure it will run with new batteries.

Re: Potential EZ Go Owner - Questions!
Just confirmed with the gentlemen that the one that just needs batteries will drive about a quarter mile or so before it dies. So that's great. The other one he doesn't know. I'm not really buying that one, it's just kind of included. He says it's in pretty bad shape anyway.

Got 'em here and drove the one around a bit! Loving it so far! It's a little dusty and chipped but we're excited :-) The hubs is about to come home so it's surprise time!

Re: Potential EZ Go Owner - Questions!
Just wanted to introduce myself here. I am Mr. losewithmolly and the husband that was surprised with these projects. Thanks for helping my wife with her questions!
I have spent the last two weeks trying to read everything on this forum. I am really excited to get started working on these. I plan on fixing up the non-running one and selling it to pay for new batteries and whatever else for the running one. One cart is a '99 EZGO TXT and the other is actually a '95 Yamaha G14 (this is the one not working). I've got the Yamaha torn apart right now (body panels and batteries removed) while I troubleshoot the electrical problems. Once I know it's running again I'll paint and do a restoration on the rest of the cart. And I have to brag on my wife a bit here. She ended up talking the seller down to $75 delivered for both golf carts. He was motivated to sell and she's quite a negotiator! I think his wife had been pushing him to get rid of them for a while now and just needed them gone. I normally don't like surprises but that was such an amazingly good deal I was very happy. Thanks again! Looking forward to posting here more! |
