Default Whats this black box on my TXT

Several week ago I bought a 1999 TXT from a couple moving out of state. Today I noticed a black box behind the drivers back back cushion, mounted on
the frame, it's about 4x6 and maybe 1.5" thick, painted black like the frame. It
has a flip up weather proof type lid that exposes a male 120 volt plug, looks
like you would plug the round end of a drop cord into it. wires go from it into
the wiring harness?

Could be one of those dual voltage carts, 36v/110v. To use the 110 you need a REALLY LONG extension cord !

No. You can use a short one. But you won't go very far!! :)

Chick; Pictures might be helpful. If it is wired to the power pack, I'm guessing maybe a built-in charger has been installed. Pictures of the box, it components and where it is wired would be very helpful.

Do you have an onboard charger under the seat? If so, that could be the exterior plugin for it. Also look for a maintainer mounted under the seat. The plugin could be for one of those. Trace the wires from the box and see where they go.

I think it is probably the computer uplink for the crash recorder like on an airplane.

Or maybe Olman is right

Ever seen the RXV "hybrid"? Came with a noisey briggs generator in the bagwell. It produced enough power to slowly charge the batteries, and had a 110v plug in the dash that you could plug (light duty) stuff into. It was hooked to a inverter behind the bumper. This was from the factory (now discontinued). I think the noisey generator killed it (why they didnt put a quiet honda or yamaha gen in there i will never know).

I dont see anything under the seat, just controller and batteries, I remember
the woman saying some thing about the charger and tricklemaintainer, at the
time I thought she was talking about the Textron 36v charger but after bringing it home, I didn't see a maintainer/trickle function on the charger. so maybe thats it, the plug look heavy duty for just a trickle charger.
This box looked like a factory item, guess not. Maybe time to remove it, cut
the wires and open it up and go from there.
