Default ez go battery drain fast

Ok have 2004 ez go txt series 36v cart. Forward reverse under seat by legs. The batteries have been draining very fast lately. They last maybe 10 minutes wot run. Then voltage drops below 36v at standstill on digital gauge. While driving on flat surface(concrete) voltage reads 30.6. All this started after i replaced cable that had bad connector it seems. Does this sound like bad batteries. They are roughly 2yr old trojan 105. Or does this sound like resistance issue?

Compare individual battery readings. You may have a single weak/defective cell. Check water level too. Have you maintained them over the two years? Check voltage of battery bank when charging. Maybe we can offer you a better opinion.

I have maintained water level and always recharge even after every ride.

Acquire a voltmeter and make some voltage measurements on the battery bank while charging to be sure your charger is working correctly. Make some more voltage measurements of each battery after charging and allowing to set overnight. Have you tapped across batteries to get lower voltage to power 12 volt devices? You may have one defective battery or connection. There is a world of information about troubleshooting this type of problem available on this forum.

Thanks currently charging and will let sit overnight and check tomorrow. What should be the charged voltage of each battery and how much voltage deviation between each other is acceptable.

Let the batteries sit for about 12 hours after charger shuts off.
A 36V pack should read 38.2V and a 6V battery should read 6.37V.
A batteries in the pack ought to be within 0.1V of each other.

Problem with SOC is it does not tell you about the capacity. A sulfated battery after charging will indicate a good SOC. Step on the gas and it grinds to a halt in a hurry.

Fair enough. If the battery rested SOC voltages are OK after being charged up, and collapse after 10 minute of use. Time For New Batteries

Symptoms of a tired sulfated battery are:
  • When charging, charger terminates quicker than normal indicating batteries are fully charged up.
  • SOC voltages indicate 100%
  • Apply load and voltage collapses.

Sulfated batteries internal resistance sores to where the battery can no longer take a charge, or give up a charge. Put another way no capacity.

I'd double check the wiring and make everything is back correctly with no errors.
