Default After reading about the damage, that can be done by towoffs

I read about the damage that can be done by having a tow off- I believe a Yamaha ATV vs a EZGO-

The stress caused by over heating things- wires, motors, controllers and solenoids. damage is done and after time, the more little damage is done, it winds up creating big damage in time- I would guess, similar is to the clutch in my 69 Camaro Z28- drag racing took it toll.

So here is the question- what kinda of long term damage, would be done, by putting a snow blade On the front of a buggy?

I see people doing it, however just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

When I read the post about snow blades- I see you can, but I never see
the Oh hell, I shouldn't have done that- I cooked all of this expensive stuff

Any thoughts on this subject? What got me thinking- its 8 degrees here this Morning and we got A dusting of snow- But we always get hammered late January and February, and I am tooo old, too broken ( one too many car accidents, Rugby games as a Front Row- kinda like a lineman- and too much tending Bar during Younger days_ LOLOL

Paying neighbor Kids, to shovel the drive, is cheaper than replacing a Motor, controller or solenoid

thanks

In a nutshell, you can build a cart to do most anything, but you can't build a cart to do everything.

Clearing snow off a driveway, probably means pushing a heavy load at a slow speed, so tall tires and/or low numerical gear ratios and/or high speed motors are not suited for the task.

A cart with a low speed final drive ratio and a high torque motor would be okay for pushing a snow blade, but a series cart that will break 20MPH on level ground might burn out the motor before the white stuff was pushed off the driveway. (Also, if your motor fails while in operation, odds are that the controller will be taken out too.)

The trick is to have high motor RPM at low speeds, otherwise the motor will be capable of drawing enough amps to burn itself out.

My cart has short tires (17") and I drag some heavy fallen branches with it without overheating my motor, but if I started getting more snow where I live, I'd most likely add a snowblower attachment to my riding lawnmower.

Which EZ GO cart do you have?

RXV's have a AC motor, low gearing and posi rear end which make them a good choice for
pushing REASONABLE amounts of snow around.

The ac motor does not overheat or draw excessive current at partial throttle/ low speed.

Motor has built in overtemp protection (temp feedback to controller)

Just use care and smaller tire size.

There are many other carts that would do the job.

Hope this helps.

I should have been more clear on the cart- Right now I have a 2005 Bad Boy Buggy, that I am going to sell ( I think) and was just given the 2008 Bad Boy Buggy.

Both are set up for Hunting, So I do not imagine, the carts being fast, but built to haul stuff- a couple of times, we had 3 250 pound men and Me 300 pounds and tv cameras
running ridges in the Missouri Ozark Mountains-

I don't need to be fast, we need to be quiet and No Smell or fumes, which is tough after eating some of my buddies Venison Chili or Venison Omelets stuffed with cheddar jack and japelenos

I live just east of Pittsburgh Pa. We get our fair share....sometimes more than our fair share of snow. So, I look at it this way: Ten years ago I purchased a Honda snowblower. After ten years, Honda quite making parts for it. That machine ran very well and I beat the snot out of it. But, it finally broke and Honda quit making parts.

So, last year I bought a Toro machine because you can't find Honda's anywhere. The Toro is a great machine. More power, much lighter, and cost about $450. It's also an electric start. I figure I'll beat the snot out of this one for what???..maybe 5 to 7 years. But....none of that cold weather pounding will be taken out on my cart. It just doesn't make sense to invest thousands in a cart, to beat it up pushing snow when for $450 I can get a machine that will do it for 7 years at a minimum.

But...that's how I look at it.

I have to agree with you. I've got an 18 yr old MTD that still does the job, and for pushing snow I just got this. It's manual angle, but power lift. Nice construction, and the make a snowblower attachment that will hook to the mount in place of the blade...

Along that same line, I just looked up the price of a snowblower attachment for my John Deere riding lawnmower. Ouch!

I'll definitely go with something akin to the Toro if the doom and gloom prophesied by the global warming crowd ever becomes reality.

I had a Troy-Bilt two stage when I lived in Michigan about 17 years ago and when I visited my youngest son up there over Thanksgiving, it was setting in his garage, ready to go.

It is made from tinfoil, which is only 25% as thermally conductive as aluminum and is lined with a layer of aerogel, so it a year-round chapeau.
