Ezgo rear leafs problems need input

I have original 2007 2 leaf rear springs that are worn but not broken. I don't want to raise the rear at all max on garage door now. Have a 6" long travel front and standard block rear and rear perches 6.5 long. Will new springs raise the rear height?.

If it does lift, how much and will changing size of the rear perches up or down, lower the rear. Any help and experience is appreciated.

Its hard to say how much new springs will raise the cart,since you don't know exactly how much they have sagged over time.Likely it isn't going to raise it much,an inch or so would be my guess,unless they are really hammered.I would replace them with the same spring if height is a concern(likely a standard-duty spring,unless a rear seat or cargo-box was added,along with heavier springs).You can also cut your top-supports down a little if the roof-height is an issue,this is quite common.When you mention "Perches",do you mean the shackles that connect the rear of the spring to the frame?This length will affect height,and a new spring would allow you to possibly shorten them.When the cart is sitting on flat-ground,look at the shackles,are they straight up/down,slightly forward at the spring,or kicked rearward? Ideally the shackle should be nearly vertical,but slightly rearward(a few degrees).If they are laid way back,possibly even to the point that the spring-eye is resting on the chassis or brackets,then the springs are shot.Does the cart sit Level,Nose-Low,or Nose High?If the front is lower than the rear,then you can lower the rear some if tire/fender clearance will allow it.If the rear is low,replace the springs,then adjust the height as necessary from there.The main thing is to have all the components in good condition before making adjustments.Hope this helps.

The cart is a little lower on left only quarter inch. The shackles lean back just a few degrees and the springs are not broken. I have attached a couple off pics.

Yep those springs are pretty sagged out. New ones will lift it up some, no way around that. What kind of batteries are orange?

How much lift with new 2 springs i am wondering. Not sure what you see, nothing orange under there battery's are grey Deka the brake pads are red, maybe the flash. Any problems running them like they are, the ride is pretty good and nothing bottoms out.

Probably for another thread, but loud rubber like squeak from left rear side, just replaced shaft bearings last June, probably 2" spacers aren't helping. Always something fun to play with.

Probably a tool box. Springs will be ok until they are not ok. They not only absorb bumps and allow travel on uneven terrain, but also locate the axle. When the spring breaks, the axle & wheels can pretty much try and leave.

For squeaky springs,Disassemble the shackle-bolts and lube everything with Brake-Caliper lube.It works great,won't rust,won't damage the rubber-bushings and doesn't wash out.If you have a Leaf-Squeak,pry the leafs apart,and bevel the top edge of the leafs with a grinder.It works great,usually the leafs get cut with a shear and there is a burr along the edge and it doesn't get cleaned up during assembly at the factory.Leafs can wear to the point of being relatively useless and not be broken,alot depends on the weight applied to them,and the quality of the steel in the springs.We see them come thru where they are tempered too hard,and they can break during fit-up in the press.Hope this helps.
